Betta Fish Care

Bettas are relatively easy to care for but one still needs some basic knowledge about its handling and care. It may appear easy to keep betta fish as an hobby. To keep your betta healthy and in good condition all the time is really not so simple. It is important to learn more about this fish if you were to enjoy it as your pet.

Bettas prefer warm temperature of about 80 degree F or 27 degree C. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water , say a PH of 7 will do just fine.

Listed below are some general guidelines in care and handling of newly purchased bettas…

Do not put your new betta with other bettas. They are territorial and they will fight and tear each other’s finnage.
Let your new betta settle down and feed only after the second or third day.
Ensure the container is covered as new fish tend to be jumpy.
Observe the betta for any sign of stress or disease.

The above are just the first step you need to know to keep your new betta alive. There are more reviews and discussion on how to handle betta fish in my next few posts in this category.
